Why is SafeSearch locked on my Windows 11 computer and how do I turn it off?

I've been using my computer without any issues until two days ago when SafeSearch activated itself and it's now locked. I'm using Windows 11, and as the Admin of my system, I can't seem to figure out why this has happened or how to disable it. Any insights on how to turn SafeSearch off would be greatly appreciated!

Have you tried using an incognito window? It can sometimes bypass these issues. In Brave, they're called "Private Windows"—you might find that it behaves the same, but it sounds like you're still encountering the same lock-up.

Yeah, I checked in Brave's Private Window and it's still acting the same way.

It could be worth checking with your ISP. Sometimes they impose restrictions like this for various reasons. If you're on Sky broadband, they might have updated some settings that affect your browsing. Reaching out to them to see if anything has changed might help.

It sounds like you might be dealing with some weird DNS settings. Have you tried accessing a different search engine? Some users found that Google and Bing weren't working for them, but DuckDuckGo did the trick. Also, if you can use a VPN and it works fine, that could be a potential clue about your ISP being the culprit.

I just tried DuckDuckGo and it works too! But since there's a DNS issue, I still can't access other sites without a VPN.
