Why Isn’t My Keyboard and Mouse Working at Windows 11 Startup?

I woke up to find that my wired keyboard and mouse are unresponsive when I turn on my PC and reach the lock screen in Windows 11. I can't enter my password or move the cursor. I checked the BIOS on my Gigabyte B550m motherboard, and both the keyboard and mouse worked fine there. It seems like a software issue with Windows 11 rather than a hardware problem, but I'm not sure what steps to take next. Any advice would be appreciated!

It's crucial to back up your data before tweaking any system settings. Just in case things go south! You might want to see if rolling back an update helps with the keyboard and mouse issue.

Since your peripherals worked in the BIOS, it's probably a Windows problem. Try booting into Safe Mode to see if you can access your system and troubleshoot from there.

Have you checked if there were any recent Windows updates? Sometimes updates can cause issues with peripherals. If you just updated, that might be worth looking into.
