I recently upgraded my PC with an RTX 5060 Ti and an MSI PRO H610M-S motherboard, but the system does not recognize the graphics card. Someone told me the motherboard might be too old or incompatible with the GPU, although I have already tried updating the BIOS. An older motherboard can still run much newer GPUs. A system from around the same era as the H610 platform has been used with cards like the RTX 3060, so the claimed incompatibility does not sound credible. Reseat the card, inspect the slot for debris, verify the power supply is adequate, and test whether the system displays an image using the processor’s integrated graphics if available.
Try checking whether the card appears in the BIOS hardware information before troubleshooting Windows drivers. If it is missing there, focus on seating, PCIe power, the power supply, the slot, and the card itself. If BIOS detects it but the operating system does not, then install the proper NVIDIA driver and check Device Manager.
The motherboard should not be too old for this graphics card. A PCIe graphics card is generally backward compatible, so this is probably a setup or hardware issue rather than an age problem. Make sure the card is fully seated in the main PCIe x16 slot, its power cable is connected correctly, and the monitor cable is plugged into the graphics card rather than the motherboard. Also check that the card’s fans or LEDs show any sign of power.
