I'm trying to open the files on a USB drive using my tablet, mainly to watch movies stored on it. The tablet says "connected to other device successfully," but the drive doesn't appear in the Files app or in the other file managers and OTG tools I tried. Since the drive works on your phone, compare the phone and tablet: do they use the same adapter, and does the tablet support USB OTG? The tablet may have limited compatibility, require OTG to be enabled, or simply not support that drive’s file system. The exact tablet model would help narrow this down.
Check whether the USB appears as a storage location inside the tablet’s Files app rather than only looking at notifications. Also try another OTG adapter or cable, since the tablet may recognize that something was plugged in without properly communicating with the drive. Some tablets also can’t provide enough power for certain USB drives.
The tablet model and USB drive format are important here. Android tablets usually work best with FAT32 or exFAT, while some may not read NTFS or other formats without extra support. If the drive contains important files, don’t reformat it before backing everything up, because formatting erases the contents.
