I recently tried upgrading the RAM on my Inspiron i5 3530 and ran into some issues. I installed a 16GB Corsair Vengeance DDR4 3200MHz stick, but now my laptop won't boot. When I power it on, the fan starts, the caps lock light turns on, but the screen stays blank. After about 30 seconds, it just shuts down and restarts this cycle until I unplug the battery. I've tried inserting the 16GB stick in both RAM slots, as well as combining it with the original 8GB stick for a total of 24GB, but nothing has worked. I even reset the BIOS to defaults. I know the stick should downclock to 2666MHz, and I've seen reports of this laptop running up to 32GB of RAM, so I'm a bit stumped on why it won't boot with the new stick.

Have you checked if your BIOS is updated? That can sometimes cause issues with new RAM not being recognized. Make sure you’re on the latest version available for your laptop.
It sounds like you might be encountering a compatibility issue even if the RAM specs seem right. Sometimes, laptops have quirks about certain brands or models of RAM. You could try running the 16GB stick alone in each slot to see if that changes anything.
You mentioned the original RAM works fine by itself, which is a good sign that your laptop isn't fried. Just to rule out any other issues, have you made sure to reseat the 16GB stick properly? It’s worth double-checking that it’s fully inserted in the slot.

I did check, and it turns out I already have the latest BIOS. I thought there might’ve been an update since then, but I'm good on that front.
