Wi-Fi Shows Full Signal but My Computer Has No Internet

My computer connects to the home Wi-Fi and shows full signal strength, but webpages and other online services do not actually work. Every other device in the house has a normal connection, so the problem seems limited to this computer. I've already restarted both the computer and the router without success. The computer is using the 5 GHz network and has antivirus software installed. What else should I check?

The computer’s Wi-Fi card could be failing. A basic USB Wi-Fi adapter is usually inexpensive and can be used as a quick test before replacing the internal card.

Try removing the Wi-Fi adapter from Device Manager and then restarting the computer. Windows should detect the hardware and reinstall the driver automatically.

I tried uninstalling and restarting, but it didn’t fix the connection.

The problem may be caused by a LAN or proxy setting rather than the Wi-Fi signal itself. Check the computer’s network and internet settings, especially LAN/proxy options, and disable anything unexpected. Adjusting those settings resolved the issue for me.

Since the other devices work normally, this may be a computer-specific network setting or a conflict with antivirus software. Check the adapter’s settings and compare whether the issue happens on both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz networks. Temporarily disabling the antivirus can also help identify a conflict.
