Will a 6950 XT be too much for a 5700X?

I'm looking to upgrade my GPU because my 2070 has been underperforming lately. I'm considering the 6950 XT, but I'm wondering if my 5700X CPU can handle it and if my 800W power supply is sufficient for this setup. Any thoughts?

Since both the 5700X and the 6950 XT are from the same generation, they should pair well. Just make sure your PSU is a quality 800W model, and you should be good to go!

Your CPU and PSU should work fine together right now, but I'd recommend planning an upgrade to an AM5 platform when you get the chance. It’ll keep you ahead for future-proofing your rig!

The 5700X pulls about 65W, so your 800W PSU will definitely handle the 6950 XT. I’ve got an 850W PSU running a 5800X along with a 6950 XT without any issues, so you should be fine.

If you're mainly gaming at 1440p or 4K, any bottlenecks should be minimal. But in CPU-heavy games, you might hit some limits. Just be aware of that!

I’ve got similar specs, and I often find myself GPU-bound during gaming, only really skimming by when playing games like Helldivers 2. You might want to consider how heavily your games lean on the CPU in case you run into issues.
