I've been using an old phone just for viewing NSFW content, mostly from various sketchy sites. While I tried to be careful—using the Brave browser and avoiding downloads—I'm worried there might be malware on the phone. My sibling's phone just broke, and I'm supposed to give them this old one, but I'm feeling paranoid since I've visited a lot of questionable websites. I plan to do a factory reset to wipe everything clean, but I'm not sure if that's enough to get rid of any potential malware. Is there anything else I should do to ensure the phone is completely safe before I hand it over?

Don't forget to disinfect the physical phone too! Seriously, give it a good clean before handing it over. Just in case. Plus, you wouldn’t want to pass anything over that's actually on the surface of the device!
Factory resets generally do the trick for removing malware, especially if you're just using it normally. But since it was used for NSFW content, it might be smart to wipe any personal data and maybe even the browser cache before the reset. That's just in case there's anything lurking there.
I totally get where you're coming from! A factory reset should be enough to remove most malware on the phone. Just make sure to double-check that you've backed up any important data you want to keep because the reset will wipe everything. You might also want to scan it with an antivirus afterward, just in case.
Yeah, it wouldn't hurt to run a security scan after the reset, just for peace of mind!

Good call! I’ll make sure to clean it properly before I give it away.
