I'm curious about how my hardware interacts. If I have a PCIe 4.0 motherboard and I'm using an RTX 5050 GPU that supports PCIe 5.0, will there be any performance issues? Also, could someone explain what PCIe is and what it does?

Not really until you hit the VRAM limit. If you play demanding games that go over 8 GB of VRAM, you might see the RTX 5050 struggle compared to GPUs that have full x16 lanes, like the RX 9060 XT. Just a heads up, the RTX 5050 isn’t the best bang for your buck. If you haven’t bought it yet, you might want to consider the RX 9060 XT instead; it outperforms the RTX by a good margin.

What do you mean by the 8x and 16x lanes? So, if I run out of VRAM, is that when the PCIe 4.0 cap kicks in?
