Will an i7-9700 Processor Work with a Z690 Motherboard?

I'm building a PC for my sibling and plan to reuse some parts from their current setup to save money. I realized that their i7-9700 processor is 9th gen, while the motherboard I've picked (an Asus ROG Strix Z690-E with LGA-1700 socket) is meant for 12th gen CPUs. I haven't seen the processor yet since my sibling is still using the computer. Can anyone confirm whether the i7-9700 will fit in the motherboard socket, or should I look for a different one?

Unfortunately, the i7-9700 is designed for the LGA1151 socket, while your Z690 motherboard requires an LGA1700 socket, so they aren’t compatible.

CraftyOtter42: Damn, that sucks. But at least I'll be able to return the board and get a different one that does fit. Any recommendations if you got any?
