If you travel by car, moving the entire computer instead may be easier and avoids repeatedly wearing out the RAM slots.

The RAM itself usually won’t be harmed just because you move it, but the repeated installation and removal is the main concern. DIMM slots and the gold contacts on the sticks are generally rated for a limited number of insertion cycles—often roughly 25–50—so swapping them every day or week could eventually wear the contacts, loosen the slot clips, or cause connection problems. Doing it once per semester or only occasionally is much less concerning. Always shut the computer down completely, disconnect power, handle the sticks by their edges, and store them in an anti-static bag or other protective packaging.

Static electricity is possible, but the bigger practical risk is mechanical wear from constant swapping. If this is only a few times a year, I wouldn’t be especially worried. If you’re doing it every few days, buying an inexpensive used or lower-capacity kit for the second PC would be safer in the long run.
