I'm planning to upgrade my setup and want to know if my MSI B450 TOMAHAWK MAX motherboard is still up to the task with the new Ryzen 7 5800XT CPU and AMD Radeon RX 9070 Challenger GPU. They seem compatible, but given that the motherboard is a bit older, should I expect any issues with performance?

You should be good to go! I've run a similar setup with a Ryzen 7 5700X3D and a Radeon RX 9070XT on my X470 board at PCIe Gen 3 x16. Performance was right on point at 1440p. Just keep in mind that some motherboards may share PCIe lanes, which could reduce your speeds if you have additional M.2 drives.
Do I need to worry about a BIOS update for that?
Make sure to upgrade your BIOS for full compatibility, and you should be set!
No issues at all! I've paired a 5800X3D with a 4080 on my B450, and I'm eyeing the 60 series for my next upgrade. Motherboards don’t really 'slow down' parts, so you should be fine as long as everything else checks out.
That’s reassuring! I’ve been out of the loop on hardware matters for a while.

Thanks for the heads up! I'll keep that in mind.
