I built a new PC and initially installed the unactivated version of Windows 11. I recently bought what was advertised as a Windows 11 Pro activation key at a low price, but it isn't being accepted. The seller has been responsive, so I'm working with them to resolve that issue. In the meantime, I'm wondering whether Windows 11 Pro is suitable for a gaming PC or if it could negatively affect performance. I had heard that Pro was mainly intended for office or professional use. My main goals are to activate Windows, unlock personalization features such as changing the desktop background and themes, and remove the activation watermark.

Windows 11 Pro won’t make your games run faster or slower. Compared with Home, it mainly adds administration and business-oriented features, such as additional management tools. For a gaming PC, either edition is fine.
Pro is essentially the same Windows experience with extra features for professional or administrative use. It doesn’t limit you to Office applications, and it’s perfectly suitable for gaming. Just make sure the key is legitimate and matches the edition installed, since an invalid or improperly matched key won’t activate Windows.
That clears it up. I misunderstood Pro as being restricted to work-related programs, but it sounds like it’s simply the more feature-rich edition.
So I can use the Pro key if it works and still game normally? I mainly want access to the personalization settings and to remove the activation watermark.
