Windows 11 doesn’t show a Wi‑Fi option after installing a USB adapter

I recently bought a small new PC that came with Windows 11, but there's no Wi‑Fi option in the network settings. I purchased a USB Wi‑Fi adapter expecting it to add wireless connectivity, yet Windows only shows several other network options and no straightforward Wi‑Fi toggle. What should I check or install to get the adapter working?

It would help to know the adapter model and your motherboard or PC model. Some adapters aren’t recognized automatically by Windows 11, especially if they need a separate driver. Plug the adapter in before powering on, then check Device Manager to see whether Windows detects it at all.

Make sure the USB adapter’s drivers are installed. Check Device Manager for an unknown device or one with a warning icon, then install the driver from the adapter manufacturer’s website. Also try unplugging it, restarting the PC, and connecting it to a different USB port.
