Windows 11 plays an error sound periodically and keeps switching away from my apps

My Windows 11 PC makes an error sound roughly every 40 minutes, and sometimes it switches me out of the application I'm using as if Alt+Tab were pressed. It's especially disruptive while I'm recording YouTube videos. Malwarebytes didn't find anything, and I'm not sure whether the problem is actually caused by Windows. I'd rather not reset the computer and risk losing my files. What should I check, and how can I back up or reinstall Windows safely if necessary?

Before considering a reset, back up your important files to an external drive or cloud storage. Once you’ve confirmed the backup is usable, you can troubleshoot more safely or reinstall Windows if needed. Since the cause may not be Windows itself, also try identifying which program is generating the sound or stealing focus by checking running background apps, scheduled tasks, and startup programs. A clean boot can help narrow it down.

I’m not sure the problem is actually Windows-related, and I don’t really know how to back up or reload it safely.
