I'm reinstalling Windows 11 Home. I entered and updated a product key in Windows Settings, and the system accepted it there, but the installer says the key doesn't work when I try to use it during setup. I purchased this key online. What should I do?

If the computer originally came with Windows, it may have an OEM license stored in the firmware. During installation, choose “I don’t have a product key” and install the same edition that was previously activated—in this case, Windows 11 Home. Once the PC connects to the internet, Windows should activate automatically. You can also try entering the purchased key after installation through Settings > System > Activation.
Make sure the key is actually for Windows 11 Home and not Pro, an upgrade-only key, or a key that has already been used on another computer. A key can be accepted in Settings but still fail during setup if it doesn’t match the edition being installed. If it continues to fail, contact the seller for a replacement or refund.
I bought the key online, so I’ll try installing Home without entering it first and then activate Windows afterward.
