My ASUS Vivobook running Windows 11 Home suddenly started showing "Connected, secured," but browsers act as if there's no internet. Other devices, including my phone, use the same Wi‑Fi normally, and Windows' network diagnostic reports no problems. I've restarted the laptop, changed DNS manually, reconnected the network, restarted IPv4 and IPv6, flushed DNS, reset Winsock, restarted IP Helper, pinged several addresses, ran nslookup, and rolled back and reinstalled the network adapter. Pinging google.com succeeds, but pings to 1.1.1.1 and 1.0.0.1 fail, and DNS lookups and websites time out. I don't have access to the modem or router because my roommate keeps them in their room. What else should I check?

Being connected to Wi‑Fi only means the laptop is communicating with the local network; it doesn’t guarantee that the laptop can reach the wider internet. Since your phone works on the same connection, the problem is probably isolated to the laptop, such as its Wi‑Fi adapter or Windows networking configuration. A router and modem restart would still be worth trying if you can get your roommate to do it, since that can rule out a device-specific connection issue.

I can’t access the modem or router myself because my roommate keeps them in their room and won’t let anyone else use them.
