My Windows 11 PC was working normally until I installed a Windows update, after which it began showing blue screens and I have not been able to repair it. A couple of days earlier, I changed the BIOS boot device so I could start from a Hiren's Boot USB to reset a password. I have since restored the BIOS defaults, but Windows still crashes. I also tried uninstalling the recent update, without success. Could the boot setting or the update be responsible, and what information would help diagnose the problem?

The BIOS boot-order change by itself usually should not cause repeated blue screens once the normal Windows drive is selected, but storage settings such as UEFI/Legacy mode or AHCI/RAID can matter. Confirm that the internal Windows drive is first in the boot order and avoid changing other BIOS settings unless you know what they do. If possible, start Windows normally or in Safe Mode and check C:WindowsMinidump for crash-dump files. Those files, along with the exact stop code shown on the blue screen, are needed to identify whether a driver or update is responsible.

I changed the boot device only to start the USB tool, then restored the defaults. I will check whether Windows can create or access the minidump files and note the exact blue-screen message.
