I restarted my Windows laptop and deleted a bunch of files, but I still keep seeing a warning that I'm running out of memory. I'm not very experienced with computers, so I'm worried about deleting something important or changing the wrong setting. What should I check first, and how can I tell whether the warning is about RAM or storage space?

If the message says you’re low on disk space or that the C: drive is nearly full, then it’s a storage issue. Files moved to the Recycle Bin still occupy space until you empty it. You can also run Windows Disk Cleanup, choose the system-files option, and remove temporary files and old update leftovers. Review anything carefully before deleting it.
First, check the exact wording of the warning. RAM and storage are different things. Low memory usually means too many programs, browser tabs, or background services are using RAM. Closing unnecessary apps or disabling programs that launch at startup may help. Deleting personal files generally will not fix a RAM problem.
A disk-usage tool such as WizTree or TreeSize can show which folders are taking up the most space. Check the results before deleting anything, since some Windows and application folders are important. If the warning really is about RAM, look in Task Manager to see which apps are using the most memory; unusually low detected RAM could also indicate a hardware issue.
