Windows keeps showing a "There's a problem with this drive" warning for my USB flash drive. When I choose "Scan and repair," Windows says it couldn't repair the drive, but running CHKDSK reports no problems. I get the same result from File Explorer's Properties > Tools options. I've tried all three USB ports on my laptop, but I don't have another computer available to test the drive. I'm not very technical and have already spent hours trying to troubleshoot this. What should I check next?

Don’t format or modify the USB if it contains files you care about. Avoid options such as Format, Initialize, Delete Volume, New Simple Volume, or converting the disk, since those actions could make the data harder to recover. Instead, open Disk Management by pressing Windows key + X and selecting Disk Management. Locate the USB in the lower part of the window and check how Windows labels it—for example, Healthy with a drive letter, RAW, or Unallocated. That information will help identify whether this is a filesystem problem, a partition problem, or possibly a failing drive. You can safely eject and reconnect it first if needed, but don’t make any changes in Disk Management yet.
I wasn’t sure what “step 1” meant either—it just means leaving the drive unchanged and not selecting any formatting or partition options. The warning appearing quickly is fine; you don’t need to wait 30 seconds before checking Disk Management.
