After installing a recent Windows update, my laptop lost internet access. The Wi-Fi icon changed to a globe, and the quick settings panel no longer appears, so I can't access Wi-Fi, volume, or notification controls. Has anyone experienced this update-related glitch, and what steps fixed it?

What does the network indicator show? If it’s a globe instead of the usual Wi-Fi symbol, Windows may not be detecting an active connection. Check whether your wireless network is still listed in the available networks panel.
If the quick settings panel isn’t opening, try pressing Windows key + R and entering `ms-settings:network-wifi`. That should open the Wi-Fi settings directly, even if the taskbar controls are unavailable.
The Wi-Fi icon is definitely showing as a globe, and the quick menu is missing completely. I’ll try opening the network settings that way.
