I recently downloaded some YouTube videos using a site that has a name similar to Y2mate. After doing this, I've seen posts warning about trojan viruses being associated with it. I'm not very tech-savvy and I'm genuinely scared about this. I noticed that I wasn't redirected to any weird sites, nor did I click on any ads, and the only thing that downloaded was my MP4 file. I'm using Chrome on Windows 11 and I'd love to know if I've potentially messed up my laptop.

If there are no obvious signs of a virus on your system, you might not need to panic. It's good to keep an eye on your laptop's performance and run a virus scan just to be safe. Better safe than sorry, right?
You can also try using Tubemate instead in the future, it's generally considered safer for downloading videos.
Just because you used a site like that doesn't mean you're automatically infected. If your laptop is running normally and you didn't click any suspicious ads, you might be in the clear. But it’s a good idea to run a malware scan to put your mind at ease.
