You can run a powerful card on an eighth-generation Intel system and still get decent results, particularly at 1440p or ultrawide resolutions. However, average FPS can look better than the actual experience because older CPUs tend to produce weaker 1% lows and more stuttering. The i5-8600 is also more limiting than an i7-8700, so I wouldn’t assume a 5080 would be fully utilized.
For minimal bottlenecking without replacing the whole machine, I’d stay closer to an RX 9060 XT or an RTX 5060 Ti, assuming your power supply supports it.
