I lost my Samsung phone and requested a remote factory reset, not expecting to get it back. Luckily, the phone was returned to me, but the factory reset had already formatted my external SD card! This card held years of precious memories, including photos of my late grandma. Is there any way to recover the files from my SD card after this? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Recovering files from a formatted SD card can be tough, but it's not totally hopeless. If you have a laptop with an SD slot, try using free software like Recuva. Just be aware that if your data has been overwritten, recovery might not be possible. Consider this for the future: maintaining backups on an external drive or cloud storage could really save your important memories!
Have you looked into recovery software? I found that Disk Drill was pretty effective for SD cards. However, it depends on how your card was formatted. If everything's been completely overwritten, there might not be a lot of hope. If only the file headers were removed, you might still have a chance. Just search online for options and maybe try a few different recovery programs.

Thanks for the suggestion! What do you mean by "only the headers"? I’ve inserted the SD card into my phone, but it just shows random folders and no files right now.
