I'm looking to upgrade my PC components to improve performance, especially since I'm currently using a Ryzen 9 5950X and I feel it's bottlenecking my gaming. My setup includes a 1000W PSU and an RX 7900 XTX. I'm thinking about switching to AM4 and moving to DDR5 RAM. Here are the parts I'm considering:
- AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D
- ASUS ROG STRIX X870 E-E
- SAMSUNG 990 PRO 2TB
- Corsair DDR5 Dominator Titanium 2x32GB 6000MHZ
Are these good choices for my needs?

I just built a new rig with the same CPU, motherboard, and SSD! Honestly, they perform excellently together. The SSD is great, but there are newer models from Samsung that you might want to check out—though the difference isn’t huge. If you're curious, I can share my complete build for comparison!
What's the reasoning behind choosing these premium parts? If you're doing heavy gaming and video editing, having a strong CPU is definitely beneficial. You might think about if the Ryzen 7800X3D could suffice for your tasks, as it might save you some cash!
I use my PC for a lot of things, like gaming, heavy video editing with large files, and Lightroom. I think I need a really good CPU, right?
If gaming is your main focus, consider the Ryzen 7 9800X3D paired with a B850 board instead. The RAM seems a bit overpriced too. The storage you're looking at is the new PCIe 5.0 from Samsung, which is great, but you'll likely not notice a significant speed boost compared to PCIe 4.0 unless you're really pushing it.
You have the same combo? Is it working well for you?
