For the past month, I've been having a frustrating issue where my display driver randomly disables. This causes my open programs to crash, and either one or both of my monitors shut off. When I go to the Device Manager to re-enable the driver, it usually takes 2 or 3 tries before it works again.
I've tried several troubleshooting steps, including scanning for malware, running PC health checks, clearing caches, and even completely resetting my PC and reinstalling Windows. Unfortunately, nothing seems to resolve the issue. I'm starting to think I might need to replace my graphics card, but that's not something I can afford right now. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Here are my system specs:
- OS: Windows 11 (fully updated as of February 9, 2026)
- Motherboard: B650 AORUS ELITE AX
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 7600X
- GPU: AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT

I experience a similar problem with my RX 6700 XT. It might be an AMD driver issue, especially if a clean OS install didn't fix it.
Have you tried using different cables? Sometimes a faulty cable can cause connection issues that lead to driver problems.
I have tried different cables already.
I've read stories where touching the power cable can cause monitors to go out, so double-check your power connections. Also, make sure you used DDU in safe mode when uninstalling the drivers. Microsoft has released buggy updates recently that affected some AMD drivers too, that's worth considering!
I don't think it's a power cable issue since both monitors disconnect. But yes, I did use DDU in safe mode.

If the OS is fresh and the problem persists, it sounds like a driver bug.
