Unity Games Crash or Mute Unless Launched Right After Restarting PC

Hi everyone! I'm having a frustrating issue with my Alienware R17 m4 laptop where all my Unity games either crash on launch or start without any audio. This started happening about a few weeks ago, but I can't quite remember what I changed. The odd part is that if I launch any Unity game immediately after restarting my PC, everything runs smoothly. However, if I close the game and try to reopen it even a minute later, I encounter those errors again. I've also tried reverting back to the original C++ versions after suspecting that an older version might be the cause, but the problem still persists. Has anyone else faced something similar, or can you suggest what I might check next?

It sounds like it could be a startup service causing the issue since your games work perfectly right after a reboot. Maybe check your Task Manager for any background processes or services that might interfere with audio or Unity's performance when you try to relaunch the games. Sometimes unnecessary programs running in the background can create conflicts when launching games after the initial startup.

That makes sense! I just took a look at my startup programs, and the only one that seems to stand out is the AW sound center. I’ll try disabling some of the other non-essential ones and see if that helps!

Are you using headphones or external speakers? Sometimes, the output device settings can mess with audio if there's a lag in detecting the right ones after launching a game. Just a thought!

I’m using headphones since my external speakers broke. The built-in speakers aren’t bad either, but they’ve been nice and reliable for years. I’ll check my audio settings just to be sure!
