Is a 10GB RTX 3080 still worth it in 2025?

My wife's GPU (a 1080 Ti) finally kicked the bucket, and I managed to snag a used setup with an i5-13600K, 32GB DDR5 RAM, and a 1000W power supply at a great price. Currently, finances are tight, and we're not in a position to invest in a mid to high-end GPU that would last us longer since we're dealing with some serious loans. The options within our budget are either a 4060, RX 7600 XT, or an Arc B580 with 12GB of VRAM. However, I've come across a used RTX 3080 with 10GB VRAM available on eBay for a similar price. So, my question is: how will the 10GB VRAM perform in 2025 and beyond while gaming at 1440p? I know how well the 3080 performs, as I've used a 7800 XT before and they're somewhat comparable, but I'm concerned about the VRAM limits.

I've been gaming at 1440p with my 3080 FE, and I haven't encountered any issues. It runs smoothly on almost everything!

What games are you playing?

Honestly, for your budget constraints, the 3080 is a smart choice. It might not have the most VRAM, but it's still powerful enough for modern games. Just manage your expectations on graphic settings, especially with the newest titles!

You'll be just fine. Just tone down the textures from ultra to high when needed. Plus, technologies like DLSS can extend its lifespan significantly!

The 3080 is still strong in 2025! I've been using mine since launch and it's still handling games well. Those who say otherwise might just have a fixation on max settings only.

I have a similar experience! I game at 3440 x 1440 on high settings, and while some titles can bring my frame rate down outdoors, I'm mostly solid at around 100 fps inside.

I've owned my 3080 since 2021, and it crushes every game at 1440p 144hz without breaking a sweat. I really don't see the need to upgrade for at least another 3-5 years!

Yeah, that game's pretty demanding. My old 2070 struggled with it too, but now I have a 5070, and it's smooth sailing.
