Should I be worried about the 9800x3d CPU failures?

I'm about to order my first PC build and was originally going for a 7800x3d CPU, but I'm now considering the 9800x3d. I've heard some concerning things about these CPUs failing—especially related to certain motherboards. I'm planning to pair it with an MSI MAG Tomahawk B850, but I want to know if I should be worried about these issues before I finalize my order. Any insights?

The main problems with the 9800x3d CPUs seem to be linked to ASRock motherboards. They've had the highest failure rates. MSI and Gigabyte also have some reports, but they’re less common. ASUS has had more failures too, but not as severe as ASRock.

Gamers Nexus thinks there was just a bad batch of CPUs. It's worth checking out their insights.

According to Toms Hardware, AsRock accounts for over 90% of the failures, while Asus had about 12%. If you're going to build with the 9800x3d, just avoid pairing it with an AsRock motherboard for now.

Good to know! I'll steer clear of that brand for my build.

Eyes on BIOS updates! A lot of the issues have been resolved with recent BIOS updates, especially for ASRock boards. It's good practice to update your BIOS anyway for security and performance enhancements.

Right? Some users had issues due to installation mistakes, but it’s good to know many problems can be avoided with the right updates.
