I'm working on a gaming PC intended for 1440p, targeting up to 165Hz on my monitor. Here's what I have so far:
- Motherboard: B550M Pro VDH
- CPU: R5 5500X3D
- CPU Cooler: Peerless Assassin 120SE 2 Tower
- RAM: 2x 16GB 3600MHz
- GPU: RX 9070
- Case: Full mesh with 3 front intake PWM fans
- PSU: 650W 80 Plus Gold.

Considering my current build, I'm debating whether to skip the AM5 platform or not. Any advice?

Honestly, RAM prices have gotten pretty good. You could go for 32GB of DDR5 for around $300, and grab a 7600X for about $200. If you can find a B650 or B850 motherboard, they are usually around $150. It's a good option instead of sticking with AM4.

I have the 5700X3D and decided to skip AM5. If you're happy with your performance requirements, I think you’ll be just fine sticking with what you have.

Ultimately, it's really up to what you want to prioritize. AM5 has its benefits, but if you're not planning major upgrades in the near future, you might not need it.

You can definitely skip AM5 if you want! The 5000X3D is comparable to the 7000 series in many games. If you’re financially capable, consider going with AM5 and a slower CPU, since you can upgrade that later on. You won't be able to do that on AM4.

Absolutely! Plus, RAM prices are dropping, which makes AM5 more appealing. It's a solid investment if you're considering future upgrades.

Yeah, and don't forget - Zen6 is just around the corner! It’s promising a big performance boost. Investing in AM5 now could mean a killer upgrade path for the future.
