I have an RTX 3060 paired with a Ryzen 5 5600G and an AM4 motherboard. I'm contemplating whether I should upgrade my PC now or hold off for 6 to 24 months. If an upgrade is advisable, what would be the best components to go for?

Go for a Ryzen 5700X3D for CPU and find a GPU that fits your budget. Just make sure it’s a solid upgrade over the 3060 to handle 1440P at 240Hz. It's all about finding that balance between price and performance right now.
I'd recommend waiting a bit. With your current setup, it's better to save up for a full generation upgrade to AM5 in the future. Upgrading to anything above a 3070 right now could be bottlenecked by your 5600G. If you want to upgrade now, consider finding a high-end AM4 CPU and maybe a second-hand 3080 or 4070, but be aware this is just a temporary fix that could leave you in the same position in a year or two. That said, if you have the budget, it might be wise to act sooner rather than later due to potential changes in the market.
What GPU do you think offers the best value right now that would be a good upgrade from the RTX 3060 for 1440P 240Hz gaming?
