I'm planning to build my first PC this weekend, mainly for gaming, but also for work and programming. I'm set on using a 9070 XT and will be upgrading from a roughly 10-year-old system with a 1080p monitor to 1440p.
I was originally considering a 9800X3D bundle, but its price has climbed to around $900. The 270K bundle is available for about $600, so I'm wondering whether the extra $300 is worthwhile. How much difference should I expect in 1440p gaming, productivity, and long-term value?

The choice depends on your workload. The 270K has more cores and can be substantially faster for compiling and other heavily threaded productivity tasks. X3D chips are stronger for gaming, particularly for frame-time consistency and 1% lows, but their advantage is less dramatic at 1440p. If gaming is the priority and you plan to keep the system for several years, the premium can make sense; otherwise, the cheaper bundle is a strong value.
I’m running a 270K with a 5070 Ti and another system with a 9070 XT, and neither has been a CPU limitation for my 1440p or 4K gaming. Unless you’re targeting extremely high frame rates in competitive games, I’d choose the $600 bundle and use the savings on the display, storage, or cooling.
For 1440p gaming with a 9070 XT, the 270K should be perfectly capable and is unlikely to bottleneck you in most games.
