My current build has a Ryzen 5 5600, an RTX 5070, 512GB PCIe Gen 3 SSD, 16GB of DDR4-3200 in a single stick, a 750W SFX power supply, a Cooler Master MA612 cooler, and a CH160 case that I plan to keep. I mainly play CS2 along with a lot of single-player games. I'm considering a Ryzen 7 5800X3D, but it costs nearly $400 where I live, which feels pretty expensive. What would make the most sense to upgrade first?

The CPU is the biggest performance upgrade, especially for CS2. The RTX 5070 can produce high frame rates, but the Ryzen 5 5600 may hold it back in a CPU-heavy game. A 5700X3D is usually the better value and performs very similarly to the 5800X3D in most situations.
RAM and storage are also worth considering, but they’re less urgent for average gaming performance. Dual-channel 32GB RAM should come first if you’re still using just one stick. The 512GB SSD may fill up quickly, so a larger drive would improve convenience and loading capacity, though it won’t provide the same frame-rate improvement as a CPU or RAM upgrade.
Before buying a new processor, add a second matching 16GB DDR4 stick. Running one RAM stick means the system is in single-channel mode, which can noticeably reduce performance, particularly in games like CS2. It’s also an inexpensive way to improve minimum frame rates and smoothness.
That makes sense. I’ll check whether the 5700X3D is available at a better price before spending that much on the 5800X3D.
