I recently upgraded my CPU from an AMD Ryzen 5 5500 to a Ryzen 7 5800X, and now my PC is overheating. Previously, the temperatures were around 40 degrees Celsius during idle, but now they're climbing to 60, almost 70 degrees, even without heavy load. I've re-applied thermal paste and double-checked the fan installation, but nothing seems to help. A computer repair shop suggested that the fan that came with the CPU isn't compatible with my motherboard since it uses clips, while my motherboard requires screws. Can anyone recommend good CPU coolers that are compatible with my motherboard?

It's important to realize that the stock cooler just isn't designed for larger CPUs like yours. Upgrading to something like the Thermalright Peerless Assassin should help a lot! It’ll get those temps back in check.

What cooler are you using right now? If it’s the stock cooler from the 5500, that’s likely your issue. The stock cooler is pretty inadequate for a Ryzen 7 5800X. I’d recommend upgrading to something like the Thermalright Peerless Assassin or at least the Assassin X 120 if you want to keep costs down. They handle heat much better!
Can the Thermalright Peerless Assassin be mounted to the stock backplate?
Yeah, it’s the stock cooler I think since this PC was pre-built and came with one. It's from CyberPower.
