I recently discovered that Windows Defender flagged a Trojan:Win32/Malgent!MSR virus on my PC. When I tried to delete the folder containing the downloaded files, I couldn't remove two instances, which I believe indicates two viruses. Although I've scanned with Malwarebytes and it found nothing, I feel a bit uneasy since I built this computer myself. Is reinstalling the OS my best option, or are there other steps I should consider?

Have you thought about using other antivirus software? There are options like BitDefender, Panda, or NOD32 that you could try for a second opinion. It’s worth it if you're concerned about the virus still being there!
Honestly, I’d recommend just reinstalling Windows. It’s the safest route, especially since you built the PC yourself. Better safe than sorry!
You're right! I was about to start the reinstall but then I tried deleting the folder again, and this time it worked! I even emptied the recycling bin. Still, I think a fresh install might be the best way to go, just to be sure the virus is gone.
I've already tried BitDefender and Malwarebytes, but they didn’t find anything.
