I switched from the Citizens One iPhone Upgrade Program to Apple's new Klarna-based upgrade program when I picked up my latest iPhone. At the store, the employee said there was no prompt or option to collect my previous iPhone, so I left with both devices. My order now shows "Trade-in Status: Not complete" and says I need to bring the old iPhone to an Apple Store by October 8 to close the associated loan. Has anyone dealt with this during the transition from Citizens One to Klarna? Can the store process the old phone a few days after pickup, or would I need to request a trade-in kit?

You’ll either need to bring the old phone back to an Apple Store or contact Apple about getting a trade-in kit. Since the new phone was collected in person, the store is usually the simplest option.
Take the old phone back to the Apple Store as soon as you can and show them the order page with the incomplete trade-in status. They should be able to process it there and finish the loan requirement.
This happened to me too. The store didn’t take my previous phone during pickup, so I brought both devices home, finished setting up the new one, and returned a couple of days later with the old phone. The store accepted it without any trouble.
If the order specifically tells you to bring the phone to an Apple Store before the deadline, take that instruction and the old device to the store. In-store pickups generally handle the trade there, while shipped orders are more likely to generate a separate trade-in kit.
I didn’t receive a kit either, and my order didn’t clearly explain the process. I’m planning to visit the store so they can check the upgrade and trade-in details directly.

I’ve used the upgrade program for several years, and the old phone was always collected at pickup. The fact that there was no prompt this time is why I wasn’t sure whether returning later would still work.
