Our AWS account was unexpectedly suspended after more than two years of normal use. The notice says AWS closed the account because it was considered related to other previously closed accounts. Unfortunately, the account hosts our core billing and delivery ERP, so daily operations are currently stopped.
Support told us the matter was transferred to the Program Support Team responsible for trust, safety, and verification. We have offered to provide identity verification, business documentation, and any other information needed to show that the account is legitimate, but we are still waiting for an update.
Has anyone successfully appealed this type of suspension for an established business account? What documentation helped with verification? If reinstatement takes time, is there any way to request temporary access strictly to retrieve backups or databases? We would also appreciate practical advice for escalating the existing support case through official AWS channels.

This is also a reminder that a production ERP should have tested backups and a recovery plan outside a single cloud account. Multi-cloud is not automatically the answer, but maintaining independent database backups and a documented restore procedure can reduce the impact of an account-level suspension. Ask support specifically whether any emergency, read-only, or export access is available for data recovery, though there is no guarantee they can provide it.
An AWS representative indicated that the issue had been sent for internal review. Keep monitoring the existing support cases and respond promptly to any requests from the Program Support or verification team. Since this type of decision is handled by a specialized group, general phone support may not be able to override it directly.
The wording usually means AWS believes the account is connected to one or more accounts that were previously closed, not simply that you opened a replacement account. The best path is to continue through the official appeal and verification process, clearly explain the company ownership and account history, and provide consistent business and identity documentation if requested.
