I'm looking to help my mom who has an old laptop that struggles with Windows 10. It takes forever to boot and she isn't very tech-savvy at all, being 60 years old. I want to replace Windows with an easy-to-use Linux distribution that's fast and intuitive so she can manage her files, watch videos, and browse the internet without hassle. I'm hoping to find a distro that's simple to install and configure so we can avoid any headaches. Also, any tips on Linux utilities that would make it easier for her to use would be greatly appreciated!

Ubuntu or Mint are both great choices! They’re beginner-friendly, and you can find a lot of resources online if you run into any issues. Just search for 'popular Linux Distros for beginners' and you’ll see plenty of options to explore.

Consider using Mint with the XFCE desktop environment. It’s light, fast, and offers a simple yet elegant interface. Perfect for older hardware and very user-friendly!

Linux Mint is a fantastic option! It’s user-friendly, especially for someone transitioning from Windows. Your mom won't have any trouble navigating it since it has a familiar interface. Plus, it handles basic tasks like browsing and managing files really well.

My mom, who’s nearly 70 and struggles with her smart TV, has been using Mint for 4 years without major issues. She mainly uses Firefox for browsing and checks her email easily. It's been a smooth experience for her.

I’d suggest Zorin OS! It has a clean and simple interface that’s perfect for older users. It feels more like Windows, so your mom might find it easier to adapt.
