The circuit shared by my bedroom and my brother's room trips extremely easily. It can shut off when we use a small space heater along with our usual electronics, such as a TV, game console, LED lights, and a fan. I live in a cheaply built rental, so I probably can't modify the electrical panel or install a new circuit. I'd like to buy a small retro-style mini fridge, but I'm worried it would trip the breaker. Is there a rechargeable power station or battery bank that could run a mini fridge safely? I'm trying to keep the extra cost around $30, since the fridge itself is inexpensive.

The breaker tripping repeatedly is the bigger issue. Breakers are intended to shut off power when a circuit is overloaded or there may be a wiring fault. Don’t bypass it, use a larger fuse, or open the electrical panel yourself—especially in a rental. Ask the landlord to have a qualified electrician inspect the circuit and determine whether the breaker, wiring, or overall load is the problem.
A space heater uses far more power than a mini fridge, so the fridge might not trip the circuit by itself, but there’s no guarantee without checking the circuit and the fridge’s startup requirements. Try not to run several high-draw appliances together, and have the landlord investigate the repeated trips. If you want battery operation, a 12-volt camping or vehicle refrigerator paired with a suitable deep-cycle battery is more practical than powering a household mini fridge through an inverter, but it still won’t fit a $30 budget.
A plug-in cooler or an insulated cooler with frozen bottles could be a cheaper temporary option, although it won’t provide the same cooling performance as a refrigerator.
A $30 battery probably won’t do this. A mini fridge has a startup surge when its compressor kicks on, so you’d need an inverter with enough continuous and peak wattage, plus a battery large enough to run it for a useful amount of time. Even smaller portable power stations generally cost well over $100, and a budget unit may only run the fridge for a few hours.
I’m renting, so I can’t really change the breaker myself. I was mainly hoping for a small battery solution because having a little fridge would be fun.
