I stored a lot of pictures in Snapchat's My Eyes Only section a while ago, but I can't remember the passcode and apparently never wrote it down. Is there any legitimate way to recover or access the photos without knowing the passcode?

Unfortunately, there isn’t a legitimate way to bypass the My Eyes Only passcode. The contents are encrypted, so Snapchat can’t simply unlock them for you. Resetting the passcode generally erases everything already stored there.
If you’re considering resetting it, be careful: that process is meant to create a new passcode, not recover the old one, and the saved photos may be permanently deleted. It’s worth trying to remember the original passcode before doing anything.
