I'm really enjoying Linux, but I'm struggling to run Fusion 360 by Autodesk. I've tried using Wine and looked into a few guides, but they seem too complex for me. Is it worth trying to get this working, or will it just cause more headaches?

Getting Autodesk programs to work with Wine can be a real challenge. I attempted to install AutoCAD through Wine, but while the installer started, it didn’t finish. The easiest route I've found is to use a virtual machine instead. That way, you can run Windows and install Fusion 360 without the headache of emulation.

I don't know much about virtual machines. Is that where you basically install Windows on a separate partition?
