I'm trying to free up some space on my 250GB SSD, which is almost full because of movie downloads. I noticed that the Chromium folder in my .config directory is taking up a whopping 62GB, and since I switched to using Brave about a year ago, I'm wondering if Brave uses files from that Chromium folder since they're both based on Chromium. I want to delete the Chromium folder since I no longer have the Chromium browser installed, but I'm concerned about potentially breaking Brave. Is it safe to delete that folder, and how can I check if it's still in use?

Yes, Brave is based on Chrome, so it does have similar folders. However, if you’ve uninstalled Chromium, you can safely delete the leftover files without breaking Brave. A good way to check if those files are still in use is to look at the last modified date or access it recently. If it hasn't been touched in months, it should be safe to remove.

The last modified file in my Chromium folder was from 29 days ago, and I deleted that browser over 10 months ago. That’s why I started worrying about deleting it.
