I know the password for a PDF, but would rather not enter it each time I open the file. Is there a simple way to make an unencrypted copy, preferably using Okular?
Can I save a password-protected PDF without the password prompt?

Once the PDF is open, try File, then Print, and choose a PDF printer or save-to-PDF option. Save it under a new name, and leave any password or encryption setting turned off. That creates a separate copy; it does not change the original.

If you want to keep more of the PDF's text layer, try importing it into NAPS2 and exporting it as a PDF again. Check the saved copy afterward to make sure the text and pages came through as expected.

One thing to watch with printing to PDF is that the result may not behave exactly like the original. Some interactive features or document structure can be lost, so test the new file before relying on it. If you only need a convenient copy for reading, printing is usually the straightforward option.

Thanks. Iโll save a separate copy and check that it still has the text and layout I need.
