Can I still get a refund for a CapCut subscription after trying a feature?

I recently ended a CapCut free trial that I forgot to cancel, which resulted in a charge of €89.99 for the annual Pro plan. I realized the charge just half an hour afterward and canceled the subscription through my Apple ID settings. Shortly after, I submitted a refund request on Apple's problem report page, stating that I didn't intend to subscribe. My main concern is that I opened the CapCut app to test a Pro-only feature before making the request, even though I didn't export or save anything. Could that testing jeopardize my chances of receiving a refund? Has anyone faced a similar situation? I canceled and requested the refund within 50 minutes of being charged, so I'm hoping that works in my favor.

Given that you opened the app and tried out a Pro feature, it might hurt your chances for a refund. Apple typically doesn't look kindly on any usage, even if you didn't export anything. They can see that you've interacted with the app, which won't help your case. In general, once you engage with a service, getting a refund becomes trickier, especially since you were charged after the trial.

It's true that Apple often denies refunds if they can see you used the service. Best bet is to be up-front about it when you inquire.

Sometimes, people have success with refunds even if they've tried out a feature. Every case is different, so you might have a better chance than you think! Just be honest and hope for the best.

It's probably a long shot, but definitely worth trying if you cited that you didn’t intend to renew. Just keep in mind that in the future it's best to cancel the trial immediately after activation to avoid this stress!

For sure! I've made the mistake before too, and I learned to set a reminder to cancel right away or I just end up accidentally charged.

Honestly, I think it’s unlikely that you’ll get a refund. They don't do many refunds for apps like this, but you can always try your luck and see if they make an exception.

Apple's refund policies can be pretty strict, especially for apps like CapCut. I've heard it can be tough to get your money back once you've interacted with the app. Just submit your request and see what happens.
