Can I Transfer Data and Apps to a New Device without Copying?

I've been using my phone for over five years, and it's starting to show its age. Despite deleting a lot of content, the storage keeps increasing. I'm planning to get a new phone and I want to move my apps, files, and sensitive data like photos and emails without just copying them over. Is there a way to do this, perhaps like relocating a photo to a different album?

Most of the time, moving files actually involves copying them first and then deleting them afterward. That's just how it works when transferring data between devices. If you're really concerned about those sensitive files, you might want to wipe the old phone after you transfer everything to the new one.

Look, when you buy a new phone, you typically have the option to transfer everything during the setup process. Whether it’s through a cable, Bluetooth, or WiFi, it’s still just copying over. Afterward, you just need to reset the old phone.

I don’t know of any way to move data without a copy happening first, honestly. Some tools will move blocks or individual files, but all data transfer operations I know of involve a version of copying. Just make sure to do a factory reset afterward if you want to clear your old device.
