I reset my iPhone 16 passcode last night, but I can't remember the new one. I read somewhere that I can use my old passcode for up to 72 hours afterwards. If I do, will it just let me in temporarily, or will it change my passcode back to the old one permanently? I also don't have Face ID set up. My partner wants the passcode to be the same as we set last night due to some trust issues, and I can't reach out to him since he's at work and I can't access my phone.

Yes, you can use the old passcode within that 72-hour window. It won't just give you temporary access; it will revert your passcode back to the old one. Just make sure to change it right after getting in, so you both have the same one again!
Just a heads-up, if you can't recall the new one and the old passcode fails, you might end up having to reset your phone completely. I recommend trying the old passcode first and see how it goes!
If you enter your old passcode, it should give you access temporarily. However, you need to change it back to whatever you want afterward. If you can't remember the new passcode, you might have to erase your device and set it up as new, which is a hassle. So definitely try the old one first!
