Hey everyone! I recently decided to fire up my PS4 after not using it for a couple of years. However, I'm stuck because it requires me to sign in to my PSN account to play any of my downloaded games. The problem is, I enabled two-factor authentication a while back, and I need to enter a code from the app I used to set it up. Unfortunately, I can't remember which app it was! I thought maybe I could receive a code via SMS, but that hasn't happened either. I've tried contacting Sony for help, but they haven't been much assistance. In short, I can't access my games. Any suggestions?

Check your app library on the app store to see what two-factor apps you might have downloaded. You could download all potential apps and see if you can access your PSN again from there, in case it was one of those.
You might want to check if you used Google Authenticator or Microsoft Authenticator for the 2FA setup. Unfortunately, if you can’t reset your login or account credentials, human support won’t be able to override that. They usually aren’t trained to believe you in these cases.
Have you tried using the PlayStation App? Sometimes you can log in through it even if you’re having trouble with the console.
I’ve been in a similar boat before. A few years back, customer support asked me for the model number of my PS4, which is etched on the back. After verification, they managed to reset my two-factor authentication. Just a heads up, though: they warned me that there’s no guarantee they could do it again in the future.
Just to clarify, if these are PS Plus games, remember you need an active PS Plus subscription to play them, regardless of having them downloaded. Also, keep in mind that with digital purchases, you're really just renting access to the games, so it can be tricky with licenses.
