Cat Urine Got on My USB-C Charger and Now My Phone Warns About the Port

My cat urinated on my USB-C charger, and I accidentally plugged it into my Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra. The phone was powered off while I tried cleaning inside the USB-C port with a paper straw, but there is still a noticeable odor from both the port and the charger. The "Check charger/USB port" warning keeps appearing. What should I do to protect the phone and clean it safely?

The charger should be discarded or recycled, even if it seems to work; urine residue can remain inside the connector and damage another device. Donโt keep testing the phone with different cables. If the alert does not clear after it has dried completely, get the USB-C port checked before attempting to charge it again.

Stop plugging anything into the phone for now, power it off completely, and donโt try to scrape the port with a straw or other object. Cat urine can leave conductive and corrosive residue, so the warning may persist even after the visible moisture is gone. Let it dry in a well-ventilated place and have a reputable repair shop inspect and clean the port if the warning remains.

MellowPine47: Thanks, Iโll stop testing it and replace the charger. Iโm more concerned about the phone, so Iโll have the port professionally inspected if the warning continues.
