Do I really need the full version of Figma for mockups?

I'm a new web developer and I'm exploring Figma to create mockups before jumping into development. I want to know if I need the full version of Figma to access unlimited files, or if the collaboration seat would suffice. Are there specific benefits of the full version that I might not be aware of? I checked the pricing page, but it mainly highlights compatibility issues without much detail on design features. Just to clarify, I'm working on full-stack projects solo.

Do you really require a full design system as a web developer? If designing isn't your main focus, you can always sketch your ideas on paper or use simpler tools like Excalidraw or Notion. Check out similar sites for inspiration, pick the design elements you like, and then assemble your own instead of overhauling your design with complicated tools.

Honestly, I think a design tool is useful for quick mockups and iterations. If you’re showing designs to clients or need to iterate fast before coding, a full version could be beneficial. But if you’re mostly working solo and want to save money, the collab seat might still do the trick! Just make sure it has all the features you need.

When I started using the free tier, the biggest limitations were project counts rather than the design tools themselves. I suggest giving the free version a shot first to see if it meets your needs!
