I'm building my first PC and ran into a clearance problem installing a Gigabyte Radeon RX 9070 XT in a Lian Li Lancool 207 with an ASRock B850M-C motherboard. The case has a recessed motherboard tray, and the GPU seems to hit the non-recessed section of the case before it can fully engage with the top PCIe slot. The rear bracket tabs line up with their openings, the PCIe retention tab is open, and the card does enter the slot, but it won't go down far enough to click into place. The GPU is 288 mm long, while the case supports cards up to 375 mm, so length shouldn't be the issue. The GPU support bracket also doesn't appear to be blocking it. Could the motherboard standoffs or another part of the case be causing the alignment problem? Please explain any possible fix in beginner-friendly terms.

Check the case’s built-in GPU support bracket and slide it fully out of the way before installing the card. It may not look like it is interfering, but lowering or repositioning it can provide the extra clearance needed. The case should support cards well beyond this GPU’s length, and larger triple-slot cards have been installed in it successfully.
Verify that the motherboard is mounted on the correct standoffs for the micro-ATX mounting pattern. If the board is sitting too high, too low, or slightly shifted, the rear I/O alignment and PCIe slot position can be off enough to stop the GPU from seating. The standoffs should match the motherboard’s mounting holes exactly, with no unused standoff touching the underside of the board.
I checked the standoffs first and they appear to line up with the micro-ATX mounting holes and rear I/O panel. I’ll recheck the board position before considering any other changes.
Since the card is much shorter than the case’s maximum GPU length, overall card length probably isn’t the problem. Try gently angling and shifting the card while lining up both the rear expansion-slot tabs and the PCIe connector. Don’t force it—if it won’t seat with light, even pressure, remove it and check the alignment again.
There’s plenty of room for the card length-wise: the case supports up to 375 mm and the GPU is only 288 mm. I’m wondering whether the motherboard needs taller standoffs, although I’m not sure if that’s an appropriate fix.
The support bracket doesn’t seem to be in the way, but I’ll move it completely anyway and test again. Thanks!
